All about the Mostar Walking Tour & Cooking Class.

Engross yourself into the unique charm of Bosnia & Herzegovina as you step back in time and wander throughout the fascinating history of this region.

Hone your culinary skills as you learn to prepare traditional cuisine with locals during the Bosnian cooking course.

After the walking tour as described in Explore Mostar Walking Tour  , your guide will take you to a home of one of the local families where you will learn how to cook traditional Bosnian food and enjoy a traditional lunch afterwards.

Bosnian cuisine is a unique mix of delicious specialties from the Balkans, somewhere between Middle Eastern and Occidental cooking. It uses a wide variety of meats (mostly veal, lamb, chicken and fish) with moderate seasoning (mild or with no spices, usually basic salt and pepper, some red pepper, a lot of parsley, sometimes bay leaves). This allows for the original yet rich flavors of the dishes, especially since all the ingredients are of good quality, fresh, and organic.

For the lesson of the day we choose among the typical Herzegovina delicacies:

Appetizer: Smoked sausage & bag cheese with traditional doughnuts followed by wine and rakija tasting.

1st course: Begova corba-a soup made with chicken meat and vegetables

2nd course :

Dolma — Capsicum filled with minced meat and spices

and

Japrak —  Rolled Collard greens  leaves , filled with minced meat and rice

Dessert: Hurmasica – Date shaped pastry soaked in sweet syrup.

Vegetarian options will have meat will be substituted with potatoes or other vegetables.

While the food is being cooked, you can enjoy some wine and interesting stories your guide has to tell you. After lunch, we say goodbye to our hosts and then the rest of the evening is free.

Best to use sports or summer hiking shoes as the terrain in some places might be a bit rough.
Most of our guests come wearing flip-flops so I guess that works well too.
